Question and Answer
Access to Print Newspapers and Some Periodicals Moving Online
What is Changing
Starting January 2023, we will stop providing access to print newspapers in the library and shift to only online access.
Alternative Access for Non-UA Affiliates
While the new digital access will not 100% replace the print, overall access to newspaper and periodical content will expand significantly. If a non UA affiliate is looking for alternative access suggest one of the following:
- Utilizing the free Public Computer cards can grant access to the online formats OR using their own devices to connect to UA wifi.
Or
- Suggest utilizing the Public Library
- All of the titles to be canceled are also available physically or in a digital format through the public library where access to current popular magazines and newspaper content is a priority.
Why
Our print newspaper collection has been steadily reduced of the past decade (from dozens of titles to just a handful) as the content has become more broadly available through Online resources, and the physical materials have shown diminishing use.
Additionally, Lately delivery has become an issue with delays and missed deliveries for our daily newspapers becoming more common.
