Restarting Express Checkout Machines

The best thing to do when a problem occurs is restart the machine and test it afterward.

To restart:

Best option:

  1.  Touch the Envisionware logo on the bottom left of the touch screen and log in with the staff password (envisionware), then select “Access” from the Desktop.

  1. On the desktop, close out of any running background programs by touching and dragging the icon on the task bar up to reveal the task window (as you would right clicking the item on a computer with a mouse) and click "X Close window".

  1. Once the background programs are closed, touch the Windows menu in the lower left, touch the Power submenu (looks like a power button), select restart.

  1. The machine’s user interface restarts automatically after restarting the machine; this may take a few moments.

Second best option: Use the power switch

  • Kiosks: Feel for the rocker switch in back at the bottom where the power cable connects. If the switch is flat when you touch it from the right, that’s on, so push it to off, wait 10 seconds, and flip it back on.
  • Countertop models: A power button is behind the monitor in the lower right corner (the button glows blue and is nearly flush with the back of the monitor). Hold the button down a few seconds until the machine shuts off, wait 10 seconds, and power it back up.

Third best option: Use the power cable, i.e. unplugging and plug back in- only do this if nothing else works.

To shut down:

  1. Touch the Envisionware logo on the bottom left of the touch screen and log in with the staff password (envisionware), select “Access” the Desktop.

  1. On the desktop, touch the Windows menu in the lower left, touch the Power submenu (looks like a power button), select Shut Down.

If you find a machine off or with a blank screen:

  •  Kiosks: Make sure the power cord is firmly in place. Set the rocker switch (lower right corner) so it ends up being in the on position (flat when you feel it from the right). Usually, the switch is still in the on position, so you’ll have to flip it off, then on.

  • Countertop models: A power button is behind the monitor in the lower right corner (the button glows blue and is nearly flush with the back of the monitor). Hold the button down for a few seconds and the machine will start up.

Contact Helpline and CC AIS and Chuck Wommack (wommackc@arizona.edu) if none of these options work.

  1. Hello, it would help to have instructions as to who to contact if we are unable to get one of the machines working again (helpline, Chuck Wommack, etc).
