Find biographies of current and historic people throughout history. Searchable by name, occupation, nationality, place of birth, and place of death.

African American Biographical Database
Find biographies of thousands of African Americans and extended narratives of African American activists, former slaves, performing artists, educators, writers, and more from 1790-1950.

Encyclopedia of World Biography
Explore biographies of notable individuals from every part of the world and from all time periods who have made significant contributions to human culture.

Book-length biographies

To search for book-length biographies in the UA Libraries’ collection:

Go to advanced library search.

Limit your search to "Subject contains" and enter the name of a person (for example, Harriet Tubman).
